3rd December (11:30- 13:30 or 14:00 – 16:00) DIY Christmas T-Shirt or Jumper Upcycle Workshop

In this fun, creative workshop, you’ll upcycle an old t shirt or jumper into a brand new Christmas masterpiece!  You’ll be guided through the process by artist Becky Vincer, where you’ll choose to either use the templates provided, or make a design of your own.  Your design will be heat pressed onto an item of your clothing ready for you to show off at upcoming celebrations with family or friends.  There will be festive music, nibbles and merriment too!

£20 a ticket.  The session takes place at Rock Paper Scissors, Canterbury at 2 timed sessions: 11:30 – 13:30 and 14:00 – 16:00.  For more information and to book your place – CLICK HERE

5th December (10:30 – 12:00) – Introduction to Refilling

Want to shop with less waste and less plastic but not sure where to start?  Worried about how to use the scales or that you might spill washing up liquid on the floor? Fear not!  Join us at The Refillery, on Sun Street in Canterbury to learn all about the art of refilling and how to be a part of the plastic pollution solution this Christmas!

6th December (13:00 – 14:00) – Sustainable Wreath Making Workshop

Hosted by the Community Oasis Garden at the University of Kent, have a go at making your own festive wreath using sustainably sourced materials.  All materials and tools will be provided, along with refreshments to get everyone in the festive mood!  This event will be partly hosted outside so wrap up warm!  There is no charge for the event, but donations would be very appreciated.

7th December (19:00 – 21:00) – People Planet Pint (COPPP28)

This is a unified alternative COP28 event, with PPP’s all over the country at the same time, to give those who may be tired of the relentless news cycle somewhere to come and feel heard, and learn about local action they can get involved with.  Join us at the “Congress of the People Planet Pints”, or “COPPP28” in Canterbury at the Monument Pub, St Dunstans!

9th December (10:30 – 18:00) – CCAP Climate Action Festival & Awards 2023

Engage with like-minded individuals, learn about the latest climate initiatives, and discover practical ways to reduce your carbon footprint. From family fun workshops and expert-led talks to a sustainable marketplace and interactive climate action games, there’s something for everyone.  Then stay on for the Climate Action Awards celebrating environmental sustainability in education, business and community.

12th December (10:30 – 12:00) – People Planet Pastry

A spin off from the original People, Planet, Pint event format, People, Planet, Pastry is still all about bringing people together to share what is going on in the local community, and ultimately, give hope that things are indeed happening in the climate action, sustainability space – just over pastries instead of pints!

Join us at The Refillery on Sun Street in Canterbury, for a reflection on COP28 as it wraps in Dubai.  Plus you can top up on all your cupboard essentials whilst you’re there – all plastic free!

Back for it’s second year!  The Sustainable Event Show hosted by Prestige Magazine returned to the Barbican this week.  

Danielle from reWARD spoke on the accreditation panel, following her recent ECOsmart certificate.  It was brilliant to see a new range of exhibitors this year and delegates not only asking questions, but keen to know the answers this year too!

John Lewis Partnership officially launched their first sustainability and ethics conference this week at the fantastic IET Savoy Place.  

From food to fashion, equality, happiness and driving business with purpose were the themes of the day.  But it didn’t all remain on stage From venue selection, to signage, badging to menu choices – sustainability was a driving force throughout.  Really proud to have been part of such a flagship event and looking forward to compiling the carbon emissions report.

RISE UP RESIDENCY 2022

Wow!  What an experience this was to be part of!  The first Rise Up Residency born from the amazing work Rise Up Clean Up do in Margate.  1 week.  17 murals.  Endless conversations started.  

Not everyone knows how to articulate how they feel about the climate crisis.  Art breaks down those barriers.  

reWARD proudly supported this initiative and also ran 2 zero-waste dinners for the artists as well as running a workshop with WashedUp Cards – greeting cards made using beach plastic.  Watch this video to really understand the scale of this project – mind blown!

CCAP's inagural climate action festival & awards 2022

Brilliant to work with CCAP (Canterbury Climate Action Partnership) to deliver their inaugural Climate Action Festival & Awards.  Over 30 sustainable exhibitors, 12 expert led speaker sessions, 6 eco workshops and 200 attendees made for a busy weekend!  All with one shared goal – collective action on the climate crisis.  Congratulations to our Award Winners, looking forward to following their journey over the next year!

Thrilled to be featured in July’s edition of Conference News as I share my thoughts on how we can use Covid-19 as a chance to re-set and transform the industry towards a more sustainable future.

I discuss my fear of going back to a single-use society, the safety vs. sustainability debate and the role event professionals have to inspire change and set a new resilient standard for the event industry moving forward.
